Musk Revives Push to Dismantle U.S. "Uniparty" System
"Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system!" Musk wrote on X, asking, "Should we create the America Party?"
His declaration follows the House of Representatives' Thursday approval of comprehensive tax-cut and spending legislation in a razor-thin 218-214 vote, advancing the measure to Trump for his signature.
Musk outlined a strategic approach focusing on targeted congressional victories rather than broad electoral campaigns.
"One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts. Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people," he said.
Though Musk avoided referencing specific legislation in his post, his current statements mirror previous threats to establish a new political movement should Congress pass Trump's "One Big, Beautiful Bill."
The billionaire and president exchanged bitter public attacks last month, occurring just days after their joint White House appearance where Trump praised Musk's government service.
Musk previously directed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), focused on reducing federal expenditures, until his departure in late May.
